Trademission to The Netherlands October 201226 October 2012We would like to invite you to the Green Farming Trade Mission organised for the Kenyan flower sector in The Netherlands from Friday 26th till Monday 29th of October 2012. Green Farming is organizing this trade mission with the support of the Kenyan Flower Council for all Kenyan growers interested in meeting potential business partners, enlarging their international network, and investigating technological and commercial opportunities in The Netherlands.
Green Farming is a joint representation of Dutch co-operating companies that can offer a joint package of products, services including advisory and knowledge development, focussed on offering technical solutions for the sustainable development of horticultural businesses in Kenya. The aim of the Dutch members is to develop sustainable production systems in co-operation with Kenyan partners that are economically and environmentally sound, and adapted to local conditions.
During the trade mission the participants will be given the opportunity to participate in visits to growers, propagators and their technology suppliers, horticultural research sites and marketing partners. The 5 main themes of Green Farming will be addressed during the program following the main interests of the participants. In broad the program aims to cover the following themes:
• Water management: including on fertigation, recirculation, water storage, water treatment and growing on hydroponics
• Crop management: including cultivation system, canopy management, crop protection and IPM, starting material and propagation
• Post harvest, logistics and trade: including post harvest procedures and treatments, vase life improvement, the cool chain, value addition, direct and indirect marketing, ICT
• Climate and energy management: including the greenhouse climate control and opportunities for alternative energy sources
• Research and knowledge transfer: research projects on a selection of the topics mentioned under water, crop and climate management
The exact company visits and meetings will be planned based on the inputs of the participating group, which will be evaluated after subscription. Also individual matchmaking will be organized based on an intake interview.
As an indication of costs, one should take into account the costs for the ticket, accommodation, part of the meals and an organisation fee of € 150. The organizers are currently exploring discount rates for group bookings for tickets via KLM and Kenya Airways and will organize the accommodation booking for the group at a sharply priced rate. During the mission program,
local transport and part of the dinners and lunches will be provided for by Green Farming and its members.

You are kindly requested to sign up for the trade mission by returning the filled in form. Closing date for participation is Monday 24th of September, however, the sooner you subscribe, the better the changes for arranging group discount rates and the more time we have to organize the individual matchmaking meetings according to your wishes.
After receiving your subscription form we will contact you on individual wishes for the visiting program, the matchmaking and issues such as accommodation bookings, logistics and visa application. We are looking forward to welcome you at our trade mission.
